Staff at Midlands Co-op’s Department Store welcomed Santa to Chesterfield on Saturday 15th November.
Santa swapped his sleigh for a vintage fire engine for his arrival at the department store, in Elder Way at 11am. He was assisted by various special helpers, including local girl, Deanna Beniston (aged 5) from Newbold, and department store staff in fancy dress and he was welcomed by the sounds of a brass band.
Santa’s arrival came the week before the switching on of the town’s lights on Sunday 23 November at 4.30pm.
Midlands Co-op’s Department Store Manager in Chesterfield, David Pearce, said: “Santa’s arrival at the store is always a big local event and it was lovely to see the excitement on the children’s faces when they saw him arriving on a magnificent fire engine.”
Local children can meet Santa in the Midlands Co-op’s department store toy department where they can also post their Christmas letters in a special post box. Santa will be at the store every Saturday (between 10.30am and 4pm) and every Sunday (between 11am and 3pm) from 22 November up to Christmas and then every day from 22nd to 24th December.
