Staff at Ilkeston Co-op Travel in Chapeltown held a special Lapland event on Saturday 8 November in order to raise money for charity.

The team from Ilkeston Co-op Travel, in Market Place, Chapeltown got into the Christmas spirit for the day in order to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. As well as dressing up, the shop is ran various fundraising events, ranging from a children’s Lapland colouring competition to a tombola, with some fantastic toys up for grabs. Staff also spread a little festive cheer by offering complimentary sweets and drinks as well as special deals on trips to magical Lapland.

Mark Jackson, Regional Sales Manager for Midlands Co-op Travel, which incorporates Ilkeston Co-op Travel, explains: “At this time of year people’s thoughts start to turn to Christmas and we thought a Lapland themed event would be great fun, give us an opportunity to raise funds for the BHF and allow customers to find out more about the range of Lapland breaks that have become so popular with families over the last few years. A short break to Lapland is a once in a life-time experience that gives memories to treasure for years to come. Our special offers were designed to appeal to families considering cutting back on their traditional two-week holiday in favour of shorter trips with extra wow-factor.”

Midlands Co-op Travel, which incorporates Ilkeston Co-op Travel, is a fully independent travel business as it is not owned by a tour operator or airline. Because of this, it is able to offer the best deals as well as providing other travel-related services such as insurance, commission-free currency and car hire.
