Co-Op Chilean Chardonnay 2007
This Chardonnay is made for the Co-operative by Cristian Goich at Viña Luis Felipe
Edwards from specially selected grapes acquired in the Central Valley of Chile. Made
with a small percentage of Estate Chardonnay (aged on French staves) and blended with
10% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is pale lemon in colour with fresh pineapple and citrus
fruit aromas. A fresh but perfectly balanced acidity drives peach and melon flavours
through the palate.
Food Suggestion
It is an ideal everyday wine, but is also delicious with shellfish, grilled fish and lightly spicy Thai dishes.
Co-Op Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
From grapes selected from vineyards in the top-quality wine region of the Colchagua
Valley, this wine is made for the Co-operative by winemaker Cristián Goich at Luis
Felipe Edwards. This deeply coloured Cabernet Sauvignon has a small percentage of
Carmenère (5%) and added complexity from partial oak influence (15% of the blend had
contact with French oak staves).
Food Suggestion
A juicy, fruity wine with flavours of raspberries and black plums, it’s easy to drink on its own, or great with tomato-based pasta dishes.
Co-Op Elephant Trail Pinotage Shiraz 2007
Sourced from vineyards in the Breede River Valley this is a blend of 70% Pinotage and
30% Shiraz, with a small amount of the Pinotage fermented on French oak staves. Dark
ruby red in colour with aromas of red berries and plums, and a touch of smokiness.
Food Suggestion
Medium bodied with soft tannins, this easy drinking red is great with a hearty tomato based pasta dish.
Co-Op Elephant Trail Colombard Chardonnay 2007
From the Breede River Valley this light, fruit-salad flavoured white is an ideal aperitif
and great with freshly grilled white fish. With hints of pear and tropical fruit this wine
has undergone a long cold fermentation, 15% of which was on French staves and then left
on lees for four weeks. Overall, a well-balanced easy drinking wine with a fresh, crisp
acidity.
