The Co-operative Leyda Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2009 (Chile)
The harvest for the Sauvignon began in the first half of April, all the fruit being hand-picked and stored cool to conserve the grapes’ naturally delicate and luscious aromas. This wine exhibits typical quality Leyda Valley characteristics: intense layers of lime and grapefruit with plenty of refreshing, mineral acidity and none of the leanness associated with lesser Chilean Sauvignons.

Serving Suggestion

Enjoy as an apéritif or with grilled fish dishes.

The Co-operative Domaine St. Gabriel Viognier 2008 (France)
Jean-Claude Mas produces the Viognier at Domaine Saint Gabriel, an area covering just under ninety hectares in the south of Carcassonne, close to the village of Marseillette and only a stone’s throw away from the Spanish border. Just six hectares are devoted to Viognier, all situated in an old, dried-up lagoon. The emphasis is clearly placed on maintaining the varietal’s natural characteristics, although fifteen percent of the crop is fermented and aged (for three months) in oak to add complexity and depth. Aromas of dried peaches and white flowers with a hint of honey and vanilla lead on to a rich, mellow palate and a consistently long length.

Serving Suggestion

Best served at 10-12°C (to show the fruit at its best) alongside seafood, curries, blue cheeses or fruit desserts.

The Co-operative Viña Vedra Albariño 2008 (Spain)
New to the Co-operative’s range is this 100% Albariño from Rias Baixas in Galicia, north-west Spain. The vineyards are high pergolas with sandy soils over a granite bedrock – good exposure to the sun followed by cool evening temperatures has helped the fruit achieve optimal maturation. This is a refreshing, aromatic wine, pale straw in colour with green hints; it features engaging notes of apple and pineapple, all encased by soothing hints of acacia.

Serving Suggestion

Fresh and lively on the palate with a delicate citrus character, it makes a perfect partner for sushi, seafood, pasta, risotto and white meats.

Chablis Premier Cru, Domaines Brocard 2008 (France)
Jean-Marc Brocard and his assistant wine maker, oenologist Patrick Piuze, are passionate admirers of nature and tradition and delight in emphasising the different characteristics of the various vineyards within the estate, to the extent that different cuvées of Chablis are labelled according to the astrological sign at the time of bottling. This is classic, quality Chablis, offering mouth-watering citrus fruit and pinerality underpinned by a long, dry finish.
