Midlands Co-op is celebrating the launch of its brand new, £1million
convenience store in Derby.
Located on the corner of Mowbray Street and Osmaston Road, the 3,000
sq ft store occupies the former Esso petrol station site bringing much
needed shopping facilities to the local community. In addition, 17
full and part time jobs have been created.
As part of the celebrations, and further reinforcing its position
as a community retailer, Midlands Co-op donated £500 to the Derby
Soup Run, a volunteer-led service providing food and support for Derby’s
homeless.
Store Manager, Tony Wills, said: "We had a great launch day
with a steady flow of customers who all made positive comments. We
have a brilliant team in place and an excellent range of products and
services including grocery and chilled products, beers and wines and
newspapers and magazines. We also have parking for 12 cars."
